Board Member

Dr. Kalkidan is a medical doctor and public health expert with an experience of both clinical and non-clinical practices. She graduated from Addis Ababa University and has served as a lecturer there. Additionally, she worked as a Medical Director of Jamma Primary Hospital. She is an outgoing Deputy Director-General for System Strengthening of Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Agency where she oversaw various supply chain transformation flagship initiatives and system strengthening activities. She is a 2018 Mandela Washington Fellow and 2019 Obama Leaders: Africa Leader. She was also selected as the 2019, 100 Most Influential Young Africans by African Youth Awards. Kalkidan is involved in various initiatives with nonprofit organizations and social movements that work to address the health care gap in Ethiopia.  She is interested in building a resilience health care system that is equitable for all in order to achieve Universal Health Coverage. Also, she is a 2020/2021 Chevening Scholar and MSc Public Health-Health Economics candidate at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Dr. Tilahun is an experienced Principal Associate with demonstrated skills in the areas of financial service laws (in particular financial technology laws), tax, corporate, and employment laws. He was formerly an assistant professor at Bahir Dar University School of Law and has many years of teaching and research experience. His expertise comprises investment law, international economic law, and international trade law. He published widely in leading national and international journals, including the African Journal of International and Comparative Law, African Identities, and Journal of African Law.

Currently, he works at Aman Assefa and Associates Law Office where he consults/advises on ranges of legal issues. He possesses extensive expertise on investment laws, financial service laws, (including financial technology laws), tax, corporate and employment laws.

Tilahun holds a PhD from Monash University, Australia. He did his LL.M in International Trade and Investment Law from the University of Pretoria and American University Washington College of Law (exchange program). He received his LL.B (great distinction) from Bahir Dar University.

Dr. Mekdes Tadele Woldeyohannes is a legal professional with over 13 years of experience in teaching in higher education institutions, conducting researches, and providing capacity-building training. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Law at the School of Law and Federalism, Ethiopian Civil Service University, where she offers International Environmental Law and Comparative Environmental Law courses for postgraduate students. Mekdes began her academic career at Bahir Dar University in 2005. While she was working as a lecturer at the university, she coordinated a project that provided free legal aid services for the disadvantaged group of the community.

Mekdes holds a Ph.D. in law from the University of Warwick (United Kingdom), LL.M in International Business Law and Globalization from Utrecht University (the Netherlands), and LL.B from the Faculty of Law of Addis Ababa University. Her research interests include participatory environmental governance, corporate social responsibility, and gender equality. She published in the area of environmental regulation and co-authored a book entitled “Gender and the Law”.

Board Vice-chairperson

With a degree in Law and an MA in Gender Studies, Tsinu has been working as a researcher, gender expert, a lawyer and training facilitator with a particular focus on projects promoting gender equality and transformative leadership. Projects she took part in include, GAVI-Girl Effect’s formative qualitative research for HPV vaccination; Gender and Adolescence Global Evidence Program of the Oversees Development Institute; and Pilot study of MoWCY’s nationwide research on Elimination of Harmful Traditional Practices.  She was also one of the qualitative researchers in a study jointly funded by UNFPA and DfID, and implemented by GAGE program in June 2020. Tsinu works with Nutrition International as a gender advisor and while managing a feminist social enterprise for almost two years, she oversaw its flagship project - the Meri leadership and mentorship program. Moreover, she has been engaged in different initiatives of UN Women by designing and facilitating trainings on gender and transformative leadership. Currently, Tsinu is working with UN Women Ethiopia Country Office as a national consultant for assessing the gender responsiveness of covid-19 initiatives in Ethiopia. 

Board Chairperson

Dr. Mulugeta is a researcher, lecturer and consultant, who in the past served as a consulting director of climate change affairs for the FDRE Office of the Prime Minister. He was a research fellow in climate governance and institutional development in the African Climate Policy Centre (ACPC) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). Prior to joining ACPC in July 2011, he had been teaching law in the School of Law (University of Surrey), where he also completed his PhD. His doctoral research investigated the legal frameworks for regulation of water suppliers in Ethiopia and Kenya. He studied law and economics (EMLE, 2009) in the universities of Manchester, Ghent and Rotterdam. He also studied European and comparative law in the University of Ghent (LLM, 2004) and obtained his LLB (2001) from Addis Ababa University. Moreover, he lectured at Mekelle University School of Law.  Mulugeta is interested in using comparative economic and legal reasoning to understand, explain and assess institutional, policy, legal and regulatory frameworks governing various activities.

ይህ አካል በዋናነት የተቀየሰው የአካባቢ መበከል፣ የደንመጨፍጨፍ፣ የኢንዱስትሪ ብክለት፣ ብክነትና የአየርንብረት ለውጦችን ለመንግሥት ባለሥልጣናትን፣ የወረዳ ፣ የዞን ፣ የከተማ ፣ የክልል እና የፌዴራል ደረጃዎች ፣ ዳኞች እና ዓቃቤ ሕግ ፣ የመሬት አስተዳደር ሠራተኞች ፣ የተፈጥሮ ሀብት አያያዝ ሠራተኞች እና ለሰፊው ሕዝብ ግንዛቤ ለማስጨበጥ እንዲሁም ተጽዕኖ ለመፍጠር ነው ፡፡ ይህ የድርጅት ክፍል በንፁህ አካባቢ የመኖርእና የተፈጥሮ ሀብት ጥቅም የማግኘት መብታቸው የተጓደለባቸዉ ግለሰቦችን መርዳት ላይ ያተኩራል፡፡  በዚህ አካል ስር ስልጠናዎች ፣ አውደ ጥናቶች ፣ ሴሚናሮች ፣ ምክሮች እና ጥብቅና እንዲሁም የልምድ መጋራት የሚከናወኑ ዋና ተግባራት ናቸው ፡፡

ከዋና ተልዕኮዎቻችን አንዱ ድርጅቱ በራሱ ወይም በሌሎች አጋሮች የተጀመሩ እና የተከናወኑትን የህዝብ ጥቅምን ለማስጠበቅ በፍርድ ቤት የሚደረጉ ክርክሮችን መደገፍ ነው ፡፡  ከአካባቢ እና ከተፈጥሮ ሀብቶች ጋር ለተያያዙ ጉዳዮች የእኛ የጥብቅና እና የማስተዋወቂያ ክፍል የሕግ ድጋፍ ፣ የምክር አገልግሎት እና የሕግ ውክልና የማቅረብ ዓላማ አለው ፡፡  ኢኮ-ጀስቲስ ኢትዮጵያ በመላ ሀገሪቱ የአካባቢ ጥበቃ ህጎችን ወደ ፍርድ ቤቶች ለማምጣት አቅዷል ፡፡ በአብዛኛዎቹ የአገሪቱ ክፍሎች እስካሁን ድረስ የእነዚህን ሕጎች የፍርድ አተረጓጎም እና ተግባራዊነት ታይትዋል ማለት አይቻልም ፡፡

ድርጅቱ የሥልጠና መመሪያዎች በማዘጋጀት በአካባቢ መብቶች እና ግዴታዎች ላይ በቋሚነት ሥልጠናዎችን ለማዘጋጀት አቅዷል ፡፡  የሥልጠናው ዒላማ የተደረጉት ቡድኖች ከአጠቃላይ ሕብረተሰቡ የተውጣጡ ግለሰቦች እና  የዴስክ ባለሞያዎች ፣ ዳኞች ፣ የመንግስት አቃቤ ህግ ፣ የአካባቢ ጥበቃ እና የመሬት አስተዳደር ባለሙያዎች ሆነው የሚሰሩ ግለሰቦች ይሆናሉ ፡፡

4. ድርጅቱንእና እንቅስቃሴዉን ማስተዋወቅ
5. ድርጅቱ የሚያቀርባቸውን አገልግሎቶች እንዲጠቀሙ ግብዣ እና ጥሪ ማቅረብ
6. ስለአከባቢው ሁኔታ አጠቃላይ መረጃ መሰብሰብ ፣ እንዲሁም የተፈጥሮ ሀብት ጋር የተያያዙ ጉዳዮችን ፣ ህጎችን ፣ ተቋማትን መሰብሰብ ፡፡

 ከዚህ ጋር ተያያዥነት ያለው ብሔራዊ አውደ ጥናት በዚሁ መሠረት ያዘጋጃል ፡፡  በእንደዚህ ያሉ ወርክሾፖች ላይ ግንዛቤን ለመጨመርእና የድርጅታችን ተግባራት ዋና ተዋናዮች እና የአስፈፃሚ አካላት የባለድርሻ አካላት ድጋፍ እና የነቃ ተሳትፎን ለማሳደግ ግንዛቤዎች እና ገለፃዎች ይቀርባሉ ፡፡

የኢትዮጵያየ ህዝብ ብዛት አብዛኛዉ ወጣቶች ሲሆኑ ሀገሪቷ አማካኝ ዕድሜ 19.5 ብቻ ነዉ ፡፡  ስለሆነም ድርጅቱ ለወደፊቱ ውሳኔ ሰጪዎች የተቀመጠ ሥነ-ምህዳራዊ ተስማሚ አእምሮን ለማሳደግ  በወጣቶች ላይ ትኩረት ለማድረግ አቅዷል ፡፡  የተባበሩት መንግስታት-ሴቶች ጥናት እንዳለው በኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ ያሉ ልጃገረዶች እና ሴቶች መሰረታዊ የኑሮ አኗኗራቸውን እና የሰብአዊ መብት ጥበቃን ጨምሮ በበርካታ ምክንያቶች የተጓደለባቸው ሆኖ ተገኝቷል ፡፡  የሰው ልጅ የማይፈለግ ብዝበዛ በአየር ንብረት ፣ በተወሰኑ የተፈጥሮ ሀብቶች ወይም በአጠቃላይ አካባቢ ላይ ተጽዕኖ በሚያሳድርበት ጊዜ አሉታዊ ውጤቱን ለመሸከም ሴቶች በግንባር ቀደምትነት ይገኛሉ ፡፡  ለዚህም ነው ድርጅታችን ሴቶችን ፣ ወጣቶችን እንዲሁም የተማሪ አደረጃጀቶችን ለማቋቋም እና በአካባቢያዊ ችግሮች ዙሪያ ግንዛቤን ለማሳደግ መርዳት ያሰበው፡፡

ኢኮ-ጀስቲስ ኢትዮጵያ በአካባቢ፣ በአየር ንብረት፣ በስነ-ምህዳር እና በተፈጥሮ ሀብቶች አያያዝ የሕግ ስፋት ላይ ያተኮሩ ጥናቶችን ያደርጋል፡፡  በተጨማሪም ለተለያዩ ባለድርሻ አካላት ፍላጎት ላይ የተመሰረተ የማማከር አገልግሎት ይሰጣል፡፡

ኢኮ-ጀስቲስ ኢትዮጵያ የምርምር ሥራዎች አካል በመሆን የመነሻ ዳሰሳ ጥናቶችን ያካሂዳል፣ በአከባቢ ፣ በአየር ንብረት ፣ በተፈጥሮ ሥነ-ምህዳሮች እና በተፈጥሮ ሀብቶች ዙሪያ ከሌሎች ርዕሰ ጉዳዮች መካከል ተቋማዊ ምላሾችን ያጠናል ፣ እንዲሁም አሁን ያሉትን መሰረታዊ ሁኔታዎችን በመፈተሽ የወደፊት መንገዶችን ይጠቁማል ፡፡  በተጨማሪ ፣ እነዚህ ምርምሮች በመነሻ ደረጃ የሚያገለግሉ የመነሻ ዳሰሳ ጥናቶች እና አስፈላጊ ምዘናዎች ሆነው ያገለግላሉ፡፡  ጥናቶችን ተከትሎም የውሳኔ ሃሳቦቹን ተግባራዊ ለማድረግ ለሚቀላቀሉ የተለያዩ ባለድርሻ አካላት እና አጋሮች ግኝቶችን ለማሳወቅ አውደ ጥናት ይካሄዳል ፡፡

የድርጅታችን የድርጊት መርሃግብር ዕቅዶችን ለመተግበር ለማገዝ እና አዳዲስ ፕሮጀክቶችን ለመንደፍ እና ለማከናወን ድርጅቱ ከተለያዩ አካባቢያዊ ፣ ብሄራዊ እና ዓለም አቀፍ መንግስታዊ እና መንግስታዊ ካልሆኑ ተቋማት ድጋፍ ለመጠየቅ ይጥራል። በተለይም ድርጅቱ የአካባቢ ፣ የደን እና የአየር ንብረት ለውጥ ኮሚሽንን ከመሳሰሉ የመንግስት አካላት ጋር በመተባበር የታቀዱ የፕሮጀክት ሀሳቦችን ይነድፋል፣ እንዲሁም ከሲቪል ማህበራትእና ከግል ዘርፍ የመጡ ሌሎች አጋሮች ጋር በጋራ ይሰራል።
